This year we will spend Lent with the prophet Jonah. Like all of us, Jonah is prone to wander from God and try to determine his own future. This temptation to turn from God is especially powerful when God calls us to take risks, to encounter the “other,” and to face things inside of us that draw us from God. God meets us in those Lent-like spaces when we find ourselves somewhere between trust and doubt, courage and fear, anger and empathy.
