Pastor
Pastor Cindy has served at Immanuel since 2011. She loves the intergenerational culture of Immanuel, where all ages and stages of faith are valued. She is energized by the way members work to live out their faith in the city through caring, using their gifts and talents and working for change. Pastor Cindy has previously served congregations in Richmond, VA; Dallas, TX; and West St. Paul, MN. She has a BS from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, and an MDiv from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. She and her husband, Brian, are the parents of two grown children.
Director of Worship and Music
Chris Cherwien directs the adult, youth, and children’s vocal and handbell choirs at Immanuel. She has served congregations in Minneapolis, Indianapolis and Philadelphia throughout her music ministry. Chris has performed as soloist and in ensembles throughout her carreer and is currently the alto section leader for the National Lutheran Choir. Chris has a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal performance from Augsburg College.
Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministry
Emily King facilitates faith development and community gatherings for kids and youth and their families; runs Faith & Science Adventures! day camp and Junior Adventures! VBS; and oversees church communications. She is also the director of Student Spot childcare.
Emily spent 16 years doing journalism, writing, and editing before embarking on a new journey in ministry. Emily has a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA.
Organist
Peter Aldrich began serving as Immanuel's organist in August 2021. A native Minnesotan, Peter was raised in the Lutheran sacred music tradition, and he has been making music ever since. Peter has had the privilege of serving congregations in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Seattle, both as a substitute organist and choral singer. He is a graduate of Grinnell College.
Church Administrator
Deanna Hesse is the church administrator. She manages a variety of tasks that keep Immanuel running smoothly. She brings managerial experience from the corporate world. Deanna has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Gettysburg College and graduate work from Georgia State University. She has lived in PA, NY, GA, Singapore, WI, CT & MN. She and her husband, Dave, are the parents of three grown children.
