Advent & Christmas

Sundays in Advent

Worship at 9:30 am, focusing on the traditional themes of Advent—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love—as we wait for the coming of Christ. There will not be worship the morning of Dec. 24.

Advent Devotions

Receive a daily reading and prayer by email. If you’ve signed up for seasonal devotions in the past, you’ll automatically receive the emails. For those getting other ILC emails but not devotions or those new to ILC emails, sign up using the form at the bottom of this page. Printed copies are also available by request.

Christmas Carols—Twice

Sing your favorite carols in community with others.

Caroling for Immanuel’s elders Groups will go out on Sunday, Dec. 10, after worship. Sign up with Chris Cherwien by Dec. 3.

Sing-along Dave Stark will present his annual Christmas carol and hymn sing-along at the Aging Splendidly luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 14. The event will also be livestreamed starting at 12:30 pm.

Christmas Pageant

Hear the Christmas story told in the voices of children on Sunday, Dec. 17, during worship.

Hanging of the Greens

Come hang ornaments, place greenery and candles, and make the church festive for Christmas! There are tasks for all ages. Decorating begins at 6:30 pm Wednesday, Dec. 20, following the weekly 6 pm dinner.

Christmas Eve

Worship at 2:30, 4:30 and 10 pm with choirs, carols, candle light, and Holy Communion. All services will have the same format.

Gifts for the Community

Gifts for Wilder Preschool Take a tag from the bulletin board or sign up online and purchase gifts for a family at the Wilder Child Development Center. This annual partnership with the preschool invites Wilder families to identify family activities they would enjoy, winter clothing needs, or anything else that would make a December day brighter. Items should be purchased and brought to Immanuel by Sunday, Dec. 17.

Christian’s Toy Box Bring in a new, unwrapped toy or activity for a child or teen at a Children’s Hospital in St. Paul or Minneapolis. The collection is in memory of Christian Osen, who was a Children’s patient. The donations are a bright spot for kids spending the holidays in the hospital instead of at home. The collection ends Dec. 12 but online giving can happen anytime.
