Every item donated, every hour volunteered and every purchase made helps support organizations serving people throughout our community. In 2025, the Flea Market raised more than $20,000 for our community partners.
Lu’s story is a reminder that creativity, purpose and having a voice have no age limit.
Her Art. Her Story. Her Voice.
For Lu Just, a resident of Lyngblomsten’s Como Park campus, a trip to the Minnesota State Capitol meant seeing something deeply personal on display: her art.
Lu joined other Lyngblomsten residents for a day of advocacy for older adults. Of more than 80 works displayed at the Capitol, 17 were created by Lyngblomsten residents. Each poster featured the artwork along with the name and face of its creator.
“They did a nice job of showing our work and expressing what we were part of,” Lu said.
The day was about more than art. Residents also met with lawmakers, sharing the creativity, experiences and vibrant lives of older adults in our community.
