Why do we keep following Jesus?

Why do we keep following Jesus when the way is not always easy?

That question sat at the heart of last Sunday’s sermon. Why do we come to worship? Why do we pray, sing ancient liturgy and return to scripture week after week? Why do we teach our children to share? Why do we care for the poor, the hungry, the unhoused and the unloved?

Maybe we stay because we have seen things. We have seen compassion show up when someone was hurting. We have seen generosity that did not make sense on paper. We have seen healing, courage, forgiveness and lives turned toward hope. We have seen God at work in small, everyday encounters.

In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus tells the disciples not to keep quiet about what they have seen and heard. What is whispered in the dark is meant to be told in the light.

That invitation is still for us.

Someone needs to hear why you continue to follow Jesus. Someone needs to hear what feeds your faith, what keeps you returning, what helps you see the world through love, hope and resurrection.

Your story does not have to be polished. It only has to be honest.

Because faith is not just something we hold inside. It is something we share, so others may know they are loved, valued and not alone.
